It’s a cold November morning and we have to wake up early to get ready for our feeding routine. The usual preparation of soup and sandwiches. Making sure we have enough coffee creamer, sugar, stirring sticks, cups, utensils, and napkins.
Then we are off to catch the 9 AM mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of the First People.

Right after the mass, we start to set up our feeding stations just beside the church. Volunteers are tasked with different essential duties necessary to maintain an orderly distribution of food for those who are in need. Most of the folks that come by are regulars but there are lots of walk-ins that partake as well. Just before opening our stations, we gather together and start with a prayer to bless our food and offerings. We also pray for healing and divine protection throughout our activity.
Each one has their fill and some are able to take home with what is left after everyone has been served. Those who are longing for prayers are interceded by groups to receive God’s mercy, healing and blessings. We then end our typical day as we all gather together in prayer of thanks, spiritual guidance, and that we continue to persevere to pay it forward by serving those who are in need.
